Rules

If you’re going to submit a Haiku or comment in Haiku, here are the rules.

I know there are several different types of Haiku (classic, modern, etc… see wikipedia here).

To keep things simple, I am only going to enforce these rules:

  1. 17 total sylables.
  2. 5, 7, 5 sylables.
  3. 3 lines.
  4. Any punctuation that works for you is ok.
  5. You can make sentences and have them spill on multiple lines.
  6. No hyphenation. In other words, words must fit fully on one line.

This is not ok:

Keep Words On One Line
Don’t Allow Your Words To Cas-
cade Over Two Lines.

This is fine:

You Couldn’t Find A
Wii Last Christmas. Guess What?
Not This Year Either
